Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Pays Tribute to Former PM P.V. Narasimha Rao on 21st Death Anniversary

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee P.V. Narasimha Rao on his 21st death anniversary at PV Gyan Bhoomi in Hyderabad. Remembering Rao’s contributions to the nation, the Union Minister highlighted his role in shaping modern India and criticised the Congress for what he described as neglect of the former Prime Minister’s legacy.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy said that P.V. Narasimha Rao always worked within the framework of rules and constitutional values. He recalled that despite serving as India’s Prime Minister during a critical period, Rao was not accorded due respect after his demise. “His funeral was not held in Delhi,” Reddy said, pointing out what he termed as an injustice meted out to a leader who made historic contributions to the country.

The Union Minister further remarked that P.V. Narasimha Rao did not receive the Bharat Ratna during the Congress-led governments, despite his pivotal role in economic reforms and national leadership. He also noted that no senior Congress leader visited PV Gyan Bhoomi on the anniversary to pay respects. “No leader from Congress visited here today,” Reddy said, adding that this reflected the party’s continued disregard for Rao’s legacy.

Emphasising the BJP’s recognition of Rao’s contributions, Kishan Reddy said he was paying tribute on behalf of his party, which had consistently acknowledged the former Prime Minister’s role in strengthening India’s economy and governance.

P.V. Narasimha Rao, who served as Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996, is widely credited with initiating landmark economic reforms that transformed India’s economy. The event at PV Gyan Bhoomi saw party leaders and supporters gathering to remember his life, leadership, and lasting impact on the nation.
