Union Minister G Kishan Reddy Highlights Major Railway Infrastructure Developments in Telangana

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, G Kishan Reddy, addressed a gathering in Hyderabad, unveiling several significant updates regarding the development and modernization of railway infrastructure in Telangana under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reddy, during his speech, emphasized the vast scale of the redevelopment efforts taking place across the country and in Telangana specifically. He revealed that more than 1,000 railway stations across India are being redeveloped to meet international standards, akin to airports. “Under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, more than 1000 railway stations are being redeveloped to match the standard of airports, ensuring a world-class experience for passengers,” Reddy stated.

The Minister highlighted that in Telangana alone, approximately 40 older railway stations are undergoing major renovations as part of the ongoing modernization drive. These upgrades are aimed at enhancing passenger facilities, improving accessibility, and ensuring better travel experiences for millions of commuters.

Additionally, Reddy shared details about other key initiatives that will significantly impact the state’s rail infrastructure. “Around Rs 32 thousand crores are being spent to develop 22 new railway tracks in Telangana,” he said, underlining the scale of the investment being made to improve connectivity across the region. These developments are expected to not only ease congestion but also pave the way for smoother and more efficient travel.

In another exciting announcement, Reddy revealed that free Wi-Fi services will soon be available at all railway stations in Telangana, ensuring that passengers can stay connected while traveling. This move is part of the broader vision to improve station amenities and create a more passenger-friendly environment.

Reddy also spoke about a groundbreaking initiative at Begumpet Railway Station. “In the Begumpet Railway Station, all railway personnel will exclusively be women,” he announced, highlighting the government’s commitment to empowering women in the workforce. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote gender equality and provide greater opportunities for women in various sectors.

These developments, according to Reddy, are part of a larger vision to improve the passenger holding capacity of railway stations, ensuring that they can accommodate the growing number of travelers in a more efficient and comfortable manner.

The Union Minister’s remarks reflect the ongoing efforts to transform India’s railway infrastructure into a modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly system, aligning with the government’s broader goals of national development and empowerment.
