Qualcomm Advances AI Research and Development with New Initiatives

Qualcomm, a leading player in the tech industry, is making significant progress in fundamental AI research. The company aims to bring the core capabilities of AI – perception, reasoning, and action – to every device category, and then scale them across industries. In a bid to democratize AI and bring this vision to life, Qualcomm has announced a grant of $186,000 to the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH). This funding will be directed towards developing Edge AI use cases and AI models on Qualcomm platforms. The project will be led by Professor Ramesh Loganathan from IIITH. To further support developers, Qualcomm has introduced the Qualcomm Innovators Development Kit (QIDK). This development kit is designed to shorten the path to productivity for developers by providing a comprehensive package of hardware, software, and customer support. The kit is built on the latest premium Snapdragon system-on-chip (SoC), offering developers all the features, functions, and performance of Snapdragon in one place. This initiative is the latest in a series of efforts by Qualcomm to strengthen the R&D ecosystem in India. By bringing together and supporting some of the best minds in the tech domain, Qualcomm is pushing the boundaries and shaping the future of AI. These ongoing initiatives underscore Qualcomm’s commitment to empowering the brightest minds to advance the frontiers of cutting-edge technology.
