PM Modi’s Munger Address: A Condemnation of RJD’s Governance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public gathering in Munger, Bihar, where he criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the difficulties faced by the people of Munger during its rule, a period he referred to as the “dark era” of “Jungle Raj.”

Allegations Against Congress and RJD

The Prime Minister alleged that the Congress and RJD have intentions to “loot” the wealth of the people to favor their “special vote bank.” He juxtaposed this with the governance model of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which he characterized as one of satisfaction (santushtikaran), as opposed to the Indian National Democratic Alliance’s (INDI) model of appeasement (tushtikaran).

NDA’s Pledge to Comprehensive Development

PM Modi reiterated the NDA’s pledge to comprehensive development, asserting that his government has made sure that no one is left behind. He pointed out the various facilities provided by his government, such as toilets, gas, electricity connections, and water facilities, along with free ration and medical treatment.

He stressed, “We never asked anyone about the religion or caste of the beneficiaries…anyone who is eligible will get the benefits. This is true secularism and true social justice.”

The Political Landscape

The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time of considerable political realignments in Bihar. His critique of the RJD and the contrasting governance models is expected to further stimulate the political discourse in the state.
