PM Modi’s Address on Manipur: Progress and Challenges Ahead

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech in the Rajya Sabha highlighted significant developments and ongoing challenges in Manipur, underscoring the government’s proactive approach to restore normalcy and address pressing issues in the northeastern state.

PM Modi began by acknowledging the concerted efforts made by the Central and State governments to stabilize the situation in Manipur. “The government is continuously working towards normalizing the situation in Manipur,” he affirmed. He noted the decrease in incidents of violence and attributed it to the collaborative efforts between authorities and community stakeholders.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi provided updates on the government’s actions, including the registration of more than 11,000 FIRs and the apprehension of over 500 individuals in connection with recent unrest. These steps, he stressed, are vital to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.

In response to natural calamities affecting Manipur, PM Modi assured comprehensive support from the Central government. “We are extending all necessary cooperation to address the flood situation in Manipur,” he assured, highlighting the deployment of two NDRF teams to assist in rescue and relief operations.

PM Modi also acknowledged the Union Home Minister’s extended presence in Manipur, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing immediate challenges and fostering sustainable development in the region.

Reflecting on historical governance, PM Modi criticized the Congress party’s frequent imposition of President’s rule in Manipur, contrasting it with the current administration’s emphasis on empowering local governance and promoting democratic values. “Congress imposed President’s rule in Manipur 10 times,” he noted, emphasizing the shift towards inclusive development under the current administration.

Concluding his address, PM Modi expressed confidence in the resilience of Manipur and its people in overcoming challenges. He reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the state through continued cooperation between the Central and State governments.

As the situation evolves, PM Modi’s speech serves as a reminder of ongoing efforts and challenges in Manipur, with a focus on restoring peace and promoting development for the benefit of all residents.
