Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Sagar, condemned the Congress party’s proposal for an Inheritance Tax, labeling it as a threat to Indian values and family legacies.
In his impassioned speech, PM Modi declared, “Congress has once again revealed its true colors. Their hidden agenda is now out in the open. Congress intends to impose an Inheritance Tax… They seek to impose levies on inheritances passed down from parents.”
Expressing profound concern, Modi warned that such a tax imposition would strip away a significant portion of the property painstakingly accumulated by individuals over their lifetimes, intended to be passed on to their offspring. He accused the Congress of disregarding the cherished family values ingrained in Indian society and accused them of targeting individuals’ wealth both during their lifetime and beyond.
“The Congress mantra seems to be ‘Congress ki loot, zindage ke sath bhi loot aur zindagi ke baad bhi loot…'” the Prime Minister exclaimed, vehemently denouncing the proposed tax.
The proposed Inheritance Tax has ignited contentious debates, with critics arguing that it undermines the traditional Indian practice of preserving family legacies and wealth for future generations. Conversely, proponents contend that it could address wealth inequality in the country.
PM Modi’s remarks come amidst escalating political tensions in anticipation of forthcoming elections, with economic policies emerging as a pivotal battleground between the ruling party and the opposition.
As political discourse intensifies, the proposed Inheritance Tax is poised to remain a focal point of contention, shaping discussions on economic policies and their alignment with Indian societal values.
