BJP’s Ramchander Rao Accuses Congress of Violating Constitutional Norms on Constitution Day

Hyderabad, Telangana | Marking Constitution Day celebrations across the country, Telangana BJP President Ramchander Rao on Tuesday praised the Central Government for honouring Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and sharply criticised the Congress party for what he described as repeated violations of constitutional principles.

Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, Rao said, “The Government of India has given due place to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar by conducting today as Constitution Day.” He highlighted that the commemoration reflects the nation’s deep respect for the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and the democratic values he envisioned.

However, Rao strongly criticised the Congress party, alleging that it has undermined constitutional norms on multiple occasions. “Unfortunately, the Congress party has violated the constitutional norms, and they have even tried to change the basic structure of the Constitution several times,” he said, referring to historical instances where constitutional amendments sparked controversy over potential misuse of power.

He emphasised that the BJP has consistently upheld constitutional values and safeguarded the democratic framework. “Today, the nation should know that it is only the BJP that respects the Constitution,” Rao asserted, contrasting what he described as the BJP’s commitment with the Congress’s alleged disregard.

Rao added that “there’s a lot of difference between the Congress party and the BJP,” stating that the ruling party at the Centre prioritises constitutional integrity, national unity, and the welfare of marginalised communities, aligning with Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals.

As Constitution Day was observed nationwide with ceremonies, discussions and pledge-taking events, Rao’s remarks underscored the escalating political debate over constitutional interpretation and governance ethics.
