BJP’s NV Subhash Hits Out at Rahul Gandhi Over EC Remarks, Accuses Him of Double Standards

Hyderabad: BJP spokesperson NV Subhash on Saturday criticised Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks on the Election Commission (EC), accusing him of displaying double standards and undermining constitutional institutions.

Subhash alleged that Gandhi praises the EC only when Congress wins, but questions its integrity when the party loses. “If they win in a particular state, they claim that democracy is prevailing, and the Election Commission is doing a good job. But if they lose somewhere, they claim that Prime Minister Modi has manipulated the electoral rolls,” he said.

He also condemned Gandhi’s reported statements made abroad, calling them derogatory to the Constitution of India. “Going abroad and making such remarks is an attempt to divert public attention,” Subhash asserted.

Highlighting the historical role of Congress governments in shaping EC regulations, the BJP leader noted, “All the rules and regulations about the Election Commission were formed under the leadership of the Congress government in previous regimes.”

Referring to the EC’s response, Subhash said the commission has made it clear that Gandhi can submit an affidavit if he has any doubts or evidence. “Instead of making baseless claims in the media, he should follow due process,” he added.

The remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges between the BJP and Congress over electoral transparency, with both sides accusing each other of undermining democratic norms.
