BJP spokesperson Rachna Reddy has strongly responded to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recent remarks on the delimitation issue, accusing him of opportunistically aligning with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s stance on the matter. Reddy, addressing the media, stated that Vijayan’s comments were an attempt to fuel unnecessary fears among the public and MLAs, and that he should first understand the issue before raising concerns.
“Pinarayi Vijayan has opportunistically jumped on the bandwagon led by Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin,” Reddy said. “Why is he spreading fear among people and MLAs? First, get clarity on what delimitation is going to be about, and then raise the issues you have.”
The delimitation issue, which involves redrawing constituencies based on population, has been a point of contention in several southern states, including Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Vijayan had raised concerns regarding potential political implications for Kerala, while Stalin has been vocal on the matter, arguing against any actions that might disadvantage their states.
Rachna Reddy also criticized Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, accusing him of using the issue to divert attention from local problems. “MK Stalin is getting involved in this issue because he is losing his state,” Reddy said, referring to recent political challenges faced by Stalin’s government. She further referenced other contentious stances taken by Stalin, including his opposition to the National Education Policy (NEP) and his refusal to use the Indian rupee symbol, calling them “ridiculous stunts.”
Reddy’s remarks aimed to shift the focus back to the governance of individual states, particularly Kerala, urging Pinarayi Vijayan to concentrate on local issues rather than involve himself in broader South Indian politics. “Pinarayi Vijayan should focus on his state instead of meddling in the affairs of the whole of South India,” Reddy concluded.
The BJP spokesperson’s comments highlight the growing political tension surrounding the delimitation issue, with state leaders seeking to safeguard regional interests amidst national reforms.
