Belgium’s Princess Astrid, on behalf of King Philippe, arrived in India leading a 300-member Economic Mission. The high-profile delegation seeks to enhance trade ties between the two nations through strategic partnerships.
During her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the leaders discussed opportunities for collaboration in key sectors such as technology, renewable energy, and defence. PM Modi praised the initiative, saying, “Deeply appreciate her initiative to lead a 300-member Economic Mission to India. Looking forward to new partnerships benefiting both nations.”
The Economic Mission is comprised of top Belgian companies, trade representatives, and government officials looking to invest in India’s rapidly growing economy. Belgium is particularly interested in expanding its presence in India’s infrastructure, logistics, and clean energy sectors. With India emerging as a global economic powerhouse, Belgian investors view this as an opportune time to strengthen their presence in the country.
Apart from trade talks, cultural and academic collaborations are also on the agenda. Universities and research institutions from both nations are exploring exchange programs and joint research projects in science and technology. This mission is expected to lay the groundwork for deeper economic integration between Belgium and India.
