BJP MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy Demands ₹30,000 Per Acre Compensation for Farmers Affected by Montha Cyclone

Hyderabad, Telangana: BJP MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy on Thursday urged the Telangana government to provide immediate financial relief to farmers whose crops were devastated by the recent Montha cyclone. He said large-scale damage across the state has left lakhs of farmers in distress and called for swift action to support them.

Speaking to the media, Reddy said, “I have personally visited all the districts of Telangana state. Around 10 lakh acres of land have been destroyed due to the Montha cyclone. I demand that this government immediately provide a minimum compensation of ₹30,000 per acre to the farmers.”

He criticised the state administration for its slow response to the crisis and emphasised that the losses suffered by farmers are massive, affecting both livelihoods and food production. Reddy said the government must conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damage and disburse compensation without bureaucratic delays.

The BJP legislator also urged the state to ensure timely restoration of damaged infrastructure such as irrigation systems, rural roads, and power supply to agricultural areas. “This is not the time for politics but for helping our farmers. The government must act with urgency and compassion,” he added.

The Montha cyclone, which recently swept across parts of Telangana, caused heavy rains and flooding, leading to widespread crop loss in several districts. Farmers’ associations have also been appealing for immediate relief and long-term mitigation measures.
