BJP leader NV Subhash launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his alleged silence following India’s emphatic victory against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 match held in Dubai.
Speaking to the media, Subhash questioned Gandhi’s political stance, asking, “Is Rahul Gandhi, along with his friend Asaduddin Owaisi, mourning the defeat of Pakistan where India secured an excellent win?” He alleged that neither Gandhi nor his associates extended congratulations to the Indian cricket team, which he claimed reflects their tendency to “praise Pakistan’s army even when they lose against Indian armed forces.”
The BJP leader praised the outstanding performance of the Indian cricket team and highlighted the importance of India’s participation in global tournaments. He explained that withdrawing from the Asia Cup would have led to severe consequences for Indian cricket, stating, “Had we withdrawn this match, the BCCI could have faced suspension, and India would not have been able to participate in international cricket tournaments.”
Subhash’s remarks come amid a broader political debate over India’s sporting ties with Pakistan, where BJP leaders have consistently defended India’s participation in multilateral tournaments while rejecting the idea of bilateral series. He emphasized that India’s victory was not just a sporting achievement but also a matter of national pride, deserving appreciation from all political quarters.
