Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao has urged both state governments and the central government to approach the Godavari water sharing and Banakacherla Project issue with cooperation and sincerity. Speaking on the matter, he said, “We hope both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers, along with the Jal Shakti Ministry, will solve the problem amicably.”
He emphasized that politicisation has overtaken genuine concern for resolving the issue, stating, “The politicisation of the issue is more visible than an interest in solving it.” Rao added that the BJP will soon form a committee to study the matter in detail and suggest possible resolutions.
The water-sharing issue, which has sparked tensions between the two states, centers on the distribution of Godavari river water and infrastructure usage at the Banakacherla Project. Rao stressed that collaborative dialogue is essential to avoid further conflict and ensure fair access to water for both states.
