Hyderabad, Telangana — The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project has once again become a focal point of political and media debate, with BJP leader Prakash Reddy casting doubts over the ongoing inquiry into alleged irregularities in its construction.
Speaking to the media, Reddy said, “Once again the Kaleshwaram issue has become a media discussion. The former Telangana CM, who claims that he is the architect of the Kaleshwaram project, has now been instructed to be present before the PC Ghose Commission appointed by the present Telangana government to identify the corruption in the Kaleshwaram project construction.”
He further noted that the Telangana government has extended the commission’s tenure by another two months. However, expressing skepticism, he added, “I don’t think this commission will give any such result, as far as Kaleshwaram construction is concerned.”
The Kaleshwaram project, touted as one of the world’s largest lift irrigation systems, has faced criticism and allegations of inflated costs and technical faults since its inception.
