The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to boycott the all-party meeting called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, with party spokesperson Rachna Reddy slamming the move as baseless and politically motivated.
Criticizing the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government, Reddy alleged that the state’s political leadership often portrays Tamil Nadu as separate from the Indian subcontinent.
“The political will of Tamil Nadu has led people to believe that Tamil Nadu is not a state of the Indian subcontinent but a different country altogether. The DMK leader is calling for an all-party meeting without any agenda,” Reddy said.
She accused the DMK of using scare tactics, claiming that the people of Tamil Nadu are not concerned with the issue at hand. “This is absolute fear-mongering because the people of Tamil Nadu don’t care. It is only the DMK that cares,” she added.
Reddy further emphasized that BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have already clarified that the upcoming delimitation process will follow a fair and proportional approach, countering DMK’s concerns.
“HM Amit Shah has clarified that delimitation is going to be on a pro-rata basis, and PM Narendra Modi stated that the unfairness and the dictatorial attitude of the Congress party based on population-related delimitation would not be followed,” Reddy stated.
Defending the BJP’s decision to boycott the meeting, she asserted, “The BJP is well within its rights to not waste its time pandering to DMK’s fear-mongering.”
The BJP’s boycott adds to the growing political friction between the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu and the BJP at the national level, with delimitation and governance emerging as key battlegrounds.
