Hyderabad – SugarBox Networks has announced a new partnership with L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (LTMRHL) to upgrade digital facilities for metro passengers, marking a significant enhancement to Hyderabad’s public transport system. The collaboration, which began in December 2019, will allow commuters to enjoy seamless internet connectivity and a range of entertainment options even without an active cellular network.
The new service will enable passengers to download or stream online content for free throughout the Hyderabad Metro network, including all trains and key high-traffic stations. This initiative promises to make travel more enjoyable and productive by providing access to various types of content, such as entertainment, education, e-commerce, and fintech services.
SugarBox Networks is utilizing its patented cloud fragment technology to implement this service. This technology ensures reliable in-transit connectivity by establishing SugarBox zones on all metro trains and at 10 major stations across the city. Passengers can log in to these zones to access and consume digital content during their journey.
This move aligns with the ‘Digital India’ mission, aiming to enhance digital accessibility and connectivity across the country. Beyond Hyderabad, SugarBox Networks is making strides in other regions, including Chennai Metro and Central Railway’s suburban Mumbai network. The company is also working with CSC e-Governance to provide digital services to remote and underserved villages.
With its focus on hyperlocal technology, SugarBox Networks is working towards revolutionizing India’s internet ecosystem. The company’s goal is to reach and positively impact over 350 million people by 2024. This partnership with L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad represents a major advancement in integrating digital technology with public transportation, promising an upgraded and more connected travel experience for Hyderabad’s metro passengers.
