Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a forward-looking agenda for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) during the opening session of the ‘Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference,’ organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi. The conference focused on the recent Union Budget’s impact and the future path for India’s economic and employment landscape.
In his speech, Modi celebrated the significant progress made in poverty reduction over the last decade, stating that 25 crore people have risen above the poverty line. “Our nation is on a promising path, having made substantial advances in improving the Ease of Living and Quality of Life for millions of Indians,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the success of several flagship initiatives, including the Mudra Scheme, Startup India, and Standup India. These programs have collectively empowered over 8 crore people to start their own businesses, highlighting a major push towards entrepreneurship and economic self-sufficiency.
Modi also outlined the key features of the new Union Budget, which includes a substantial ₹2 lakh crore PM Package aimed at benefiting over 4 crore youth. This package is designed to enhance skill development and global competitiveness of Indian products. Additionally, the budget introduces new internship schemes and incentives for EPFO contributions, which are expected to stimulate job creation and provide much-needed support to employers.
“Our budget reflects a strategic approach to fostering economic growth and creating opportunities,” Modi explained. “By investing in skill development and providing robust support to young entrepreneurs and job seekers, we are laying the foundation for a globally competitive India.”
The conference served as a crucial venue for industry leaders and policymakers to discuss and strategize on how to best implement these initiatives and drive forward the vision of a developed India.
